Tashiba Williams was still working emergency room shifts when she started noticing something that troubled her. Patients were coming in with wounds that had progressed beyond the point of easy treatment. Diabetic ulcers that had gone unmonitored. Pressure injuries that had been neglected for weeks. In some cases, the outcome was an amputation that could have been avoided.
“Too often, patients reach the point of amputation simply because they didn’t receive specialized wound care early enough,” Williams said. “My goal is to meet patients where they are, treat wounds aggressively and early, and give them a chance to heal before limb loss becomes the only option.”
That conviction eventually became ADA Family Health Clinic, the Houston-based mobile wound care and primary care practice Williams founded to address a gap she had watched the system fail to close. Today, the clinic serves patients across Texas and Louisiana, and Williams has treated more than 343 patients since launching the mobile practice.
A Career Built in the Trenches
Williams grew up in Chicago, Illinois, and went on to earn a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Chicago State University in 2011. She spent roughly 15 years working as an emergency room registered nurse, a role that gave her extensive exposure to acute and chronic conditions across a wide range of patients. That foundation shaped both her clinical instincts and her understanding of where the healthcare system’s attention tends to fall short.
In 2016, she earned a Doctor of Science in Nursing from Walden University, completing the advanced training that would allow her to practice as a nurse practitioner. She is board-certified through the American Association of Nurse Practitioners and holds nursing licenses in multiple states.
Since becoming a nurse practitioner, Williams has practiced across hospital medicine, urgent care, and family practice settings. She is based in Houston, where she works as a family nurse practitioner and mobile wound care specialist, providing primary and urgent medical care for patients of all ages. Her clinical work includes managing chronic diseases, performing minor medical procedures, conducting women’s health examinations, and treating complex wounds such as diabetic ulcers and pressure injuries.
Building ADA Family Health Clinic
ADA Family Health Clinic was established with a straightforward mission: to provide accessible, high-quality healthcare to families in the community. What began as a response to a clear and observable problem has grown into a multifaceted practice offering general medical consultations, chronic disease management, routine health screenings, and specialized wound care.
The mobile component of the clinic was a deliberate design choice. Many of the patients most at risk for chronic wounds and complications face significant barriers to in-person clinic visits. Transportation challenges, mobility limitations, and the demands of managing multiple chronic conditions all make it difficult for vulnerable patients to access the specialized care they need consistently. Williams built her practice to remove those barriers entirely.
The results have been documented in the lives of individual patients. In several cases, people who had previously been told amputation was a likely outcome were able to preserve their limbs after receiving consistent, specialized wound care through the mobile clinic.
Recognition and Commitment to the Profession
Williams has received recognition for her work both locally and nationally. She has been highlighted by the America’s Best in Medicine Google award for five-star patient reviews, featured in POWER Magazine, profiled by Houston Voyage as one of the city’s hidden gems in healthcare, and recognized by Inside Success Women in Power and Legacy Makers. She has also been listed in Continental Who’s Who.
Beyond her clinical work, Williams is involved in mentoring healthcare staff and students and remains active in several professional nursing associations. She has described her own health journey, including navigating three heart ablations, as something that has deepened rather than diminished her commitment to patient care.
“Having three heart ablations and still pushing through despite my own health scares to provide my patients quality care,” Williams said when asked about the challenges she has overcome. The experience has given her a perspective on illness and resilience that informs how she approaches every patient relationship.
Looking Ahead
Williams has described her vision for ADA Family Health Clinic over the next five to seven years as becoming a trusted healthcare provider on a national scale, continuing to help more families stay healthy while delivering the kind of compassionate, patient-focused care that shaped the clinic’s founding mission.
For Williams, the work has always come back to what she observed in those early years in the emergency room: that outcomes often hinge not on the availability of treatment, but on whether patients can actually access it in time. Her career, and the clinic she built, are her answer to that problem.
