The Inspiring Journey of a Vintage Streetwear Entrepreneur

From flipping rare Golf Wang items to becoming a household name in the sneaker community, Devon Medina’s ascent as a Vintage Streetwear Entrepreneur is nothing short of inspiring. A tale of perseverance, passion, and an indomitable spirit, Medina’s story sheds light on the essence of entrepreneurship.

From Collector to Reseller: The Genesis of Baja Kickz

“I started out with only $150… As the community started to die down, I decided to sell my entire Golf Wang Collection and move into Sneakers. This is when I decided to create my sneaker reselling account called ‘Baja Kickz’,” recalls Medina.

“I ended up with $1000 and began buying used pairs, cleaning them, and flipping them for profit.”

The Pivot: Embracing a Broader Vision

While Baja Kickz flourished, Medina’s vision expanded, encapsulating not just sneakers but also vintage, streetwear, and general second-hand apparel. It was more than just business—it was about empowering others.

“I incorporated all of my interests into one business. Fashion is an outlet that helped me grow the confidence I had been lacking my entire life,” Medina explains.

Beyond Business: Creating Connections and Confidence

What sets Medina apart as a Vintage Streetwear Entrepreneur isn’t just the quality of items or stellar customer service. It’s the profound human connection.

“The most rewarding part of my job is being a go-to outlet for my clients and their confidence,” Medina emphasizes.

She further elaborates on his commitment:

“I want my audience to understand that what I do isn’t geared towards my own benefit… I hope that I am able to help as many people as possible explore the world of fashion and find what makes them feel good.”

Overcoming Challenges: Resilience and Determination

2022 was a testing year for Medina, marked by personal upheavals. But these adversities only strengthened her resolve.

“I lost my childhood home, my parents split, and I medically withdrew out of college. It was hard, but it shaped me and my business,” Medina shares candidly.

The Road Ahead: Vision for the Future

Envisioning the next steps, Medina is optimistic about the prospects of a storefront and deeper community engagement.

“In the next five years, I am hoping to be working towards opening a storefront,” Medina shares his aspirations.

A Word of Wisdom for Aspiring Entrepreneurs

Medina’s advice?

“Be different and strive to establish yourself as a human being instead of a business. Connections are way more important and sustainable than money.”

Drawing Inspiration: A Tribute to Supporters

Instead of a singular figure, Medina’s inspirations are manifold: friends, family, supporters.

“They have no idea how much they mean to me and I wouldn’t be where I am without them,” Medina concludes.
