Kerri Hermary Shares Her Cancer Survival Story Through Gamma Healing and Speaking

Published:

When Kerri Hermary was diagnosed with stage 3 triple negative breast cancer on September 7, 2022, she found herself confronting questions that went beyond her medical diagnosis. After years of helping others navigate emotional pain through her Gamma Healing practice, she was facing a deeply personal test of the principles she had spent much of her career teaching.

Known professionally as Kerri the Button Lady, Hermary is a spiritual mentor, author, and creator of Gamma Healing, an approach centered on exploring emotional experiences and releasing what she describes as stored cellular memories.

Now, she is bringing her cancer journey to the stage, sharing a keynote about trauma, anger, personal responsibility, and the difficult process of reclaiming her life.

The Diagnosis That Changed Her Perspective

Hermary’s experience with breast lumps began years before her cancer diagnosis. She recalls discovering two earlier lumps during an abusive marriage, both of which were determined to be noncancerous.

A third lump appeared seven years after her divorce. This time, the diagnosis was cancer.

The news brought back memories of a painful period in her life. Hermary had experienced mental and physical abuse during her marriage, and she continued to struggle with anger long after the relationship ended.

Initially, she questioned whether those experiences had contributed to her illness. She eventually came to believe that her unresolved anger had affected her physical well being.

That interpretation remains part of her personal spiritual understanding. Medical evidence does not establish that anger or emotional trauma causes breast cancer.

Still, examining those emotions became central to how Hermary coped with her diagnosis.

Finding Strength Through Gamma Healing

For 17 years, Hermary has worked with individuals through Gamma Healing, a spiritual practice she developed around the idea that unresolved emotional experiences can influence how people feel and respond to life.

Her approach encourages participants to examine painful memories, recognize lingering emotional patterns, and work toward releasing resentment and blame.

During her cancer treatment, Hermary returned to those practices herself.

She underwent approximately three months of chemotherapy and later had a double mastectomy. Throughout this period, she also practiced Gamma Healing, focusing on the anger she associated with her former marriage.

She describes the experience as an opportunity to confront emotions she had carried for years.

An ultrasound in January showed that her tumor had shrunk substantially. Following surgery, Hermary recalls receiving encouraging results from her physician.

Although she attributes considerable personal significance to Gamma Healing, the practice has not been scientifically demonstrated to eliminate cancer. Her experience involved conventional medical treatment alongside her spiritual practices.

Turning a Personal Journey Into a Keynote

Hermary’s keynote begins with two provocative questions: Can people make themselves sick, and can they heal themselves?

From there, she recounts her diagnosis, her history of abuse, and the emotional work she undertook during treatment.

One defining moment came during a conversation with a friend who had also experienced breast cancer. When Hermary asked why this had happened to her, her friend challenged her to consider what she would do next.

The exchange helped Hermary reconsider how she wanted to approach her circumstances.

Her presentation explores that shift from feeling powerless to making conscious decisions about her emotional well being.

Rather than offering medical advice, her story provides a personal perspective on resilience, forgiveness, and the importance of seeking support while facing serious challenges.

Bringing Her Message to New Audiences

Hermary’s speaking ambitions build on an established career in spiritual mentorship.

She is also the author of the 2019 bestseller Energy & Weight Loss and founder of Kerri the Button Lady Academy, an online membership community offering spiritual education through her Inner Knowing Method.

The academy provides an additional avenue for people interested in exploring her teachings, while public speaking allows Hermary to share the experiences behind them.

Her cancer journey has given her a deeply personal subject to discuss with audiences interested in resilience, emotional recovery, and life after adversity.

For Hermary, the message is ultimately about reclaiming a sense of agency after experiences that once seemed overwhelming.
