Joshua Maurice: A Leading Fintech Advocate for Financial Inclusion

Joshua Maurice is known for his significant efforts to improve financial inclusion, especially in underserved communities. His innovative use of technology and dedication to helping those in need earned him the 2024 Global Recognition Award, which honors his contributions to the financial world. This award highlights his passion for ensuring that financial tools and services are available to everyone, regardless of their income or background.

Joshua’s work goes beyond technology, it focuses on helping people. His ability to use technology to solve real problems makes him a respected leader in the fintech industry. “My mission is to ensure that everyone, no matter where they are or what they earn, has access to the financial resources they need to build a better future,” Joshua explains. This goal is at the core of everything he does.

One of Joshua’s key accomplishments is his leadership in the Conditional Cash Transfer Program. This initiative done in partnership with Fortis mobile money, and the National Cash Transfer office in Abuja helped onboard over 400,000 people, providing them with access to vital financial services. These services have made a big difference, giving many people the chance to improve their financial situations and their lives.

“I’ve always felt that true innovation means more than just making new products—it’s about solving real issues and making a lasting impact,” Joshua reflects. This approach is what sets his work apart, as he focuses on creating solutions that help people long-term and empower them to take control of their finances.

Joshua’s background includes a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from the University of Calabar and a Master’s degree in International Finance from Edinburgh Napier University. His time as an Operations Specialist at Fortis Mobile Money Ltd in Abuja was crucial in expanding financial services to areas that lacked them. His technical knowledge, combined with his commitment to helping people, is what drives him to create meaningful financial solutions.

“My goal is to build fintech solutions that aren’t just new, but truly make a difference for the communities they help,” Joshua shares.

Joshua’s leadership has brought real change to fintech, particularly in mobile money and financial inclusion. His work has improved the lives of many, offering opportunities for financial stability and growth to people in need.

Receiving the 2024 Global Recognition Award is a proud moment for Joshua, as it highlights his commitment to making financial services available to everyone. But for Joshua, the work is far from over.

“I am deeply honored by this recognition, but for me, the work is far from done,” Joshua says. “This award inspires me to keep pushing boundaries, to continue innovating, and to ensure that no one is left behind in the financial landscape.”

As a member of the mentorship club, the Fintech Association of Nigeria, and the Digital Frontier Institute (DFI) Alumni in Abuja, Joshua is deeply involved in shaping the future of financial services. His work not only impacts the fintech industry but also inspires the next generation of leaders.

Joshua’s journey is driven by the desire to make a real difference. His leadership in fintech and dedication to helping others ensures that his work will have a lasting impact on the industry and the people he serves.

“The impact we create is what truly matters. It’s not just about the awards or the recognition—it’s about changing lives and building a future where everyone has the opportunity to succeed,” Joshua says.
