From Addiction to Inspiration: Kyle Robinson’s Journey to Building Relentless Repetition

Published:

Kyle Robinson’s story is one of grit, redemption, and relentless pursuit. A former professional athlete whose career was derailed by injury and addiction, Robinson has transformed his darkest battles into a powerful message of hope. Today, he’s the founder of Relentless Repetition, a speaking and coaching platform designed to inspire individuals, athletes, and organizations to push past setbacks and embrace the hard, unglamorous work required for greatness.

From the Baseball Diamond to Rock Bottom

For six and a half years, Robinson lived his childhood dream: playing professional baseball. But after surgery led to painkiller dependency, his life spiraled into heroin and meth addiction, arrests, and more than a year in county jail. He overdosed seven times on fentanyl before finally finding sobriety on November 24, 2019—a date he calls “the day I knew I was alive for a purpose.”

“I had always known I had a gift for connecting with people, but I didn’t have a story worth telling—until then,” Robinson reflects. “Addiction gave me a story of resilience, and my recovery gave me a mission: to help others find a way forward.”

The Birth of Relentless Repetition

From his own experiences, Robinson discovered a universal truth: success—whether in sports, business, or life—comes down to what he calls “relentless repetition.” The concept is simple yet profound: achieving elite performance requires consistent, often monotonous, work that few are willing to do.

“It’s the boring, unglamorous effort that separates the top one percent from everyone else,” Robinson says. That philosophy became the foundation of his company, Relentless Repetition, a brand built to empower others to put in the work needed to become exceptional.

Early Challenges and Breakthrough Moments

Launching a business while balancing a full-time role, family life, and speaking engagements hasn’t been easy. Robinson admits his venture is still in its early stages. But his challenges today pale in comparison to the struggles of his past.

A pivotal confirmation came in late 2023, when Robinson crossed paths with Damon West, a nationally recognized speaker with a similar journey through addiction and redemption. “Years ago, while still in my addiction, my mom sent me an article about Damon,” Robinson recalls. “Meeting him in person years later as a speaker was the sign I needed—I knew I was on the right path.”

Advice for Aspiring Entrepreneurs

Robinson’s message to new founders is direct: seek out mentors and ask questions without hesitation. “The only wrong question is the one you don’t ask,” he says. “Surround yourself with people who are wiser and wealthier. They’ll save you years of mistakes.”

He credits mentors like Paul Getter, founder of Speakpreneur, for showing him the ropes of professional speaking and motivating him to push forward.

Balance, Obsession, and the Power of Fitness

For Robinson, true balance doesn’t exist in the early stages of building something meaningful. “If you want to be the best, you have to be obsessed,” he says. But he emphasizes the importance of healthy outlets for stress, pointing to fitness as his saving grace.

“Working out saved my life. It keeps me sober, it keeps me energized, and it gives me a healthy way to release frustration,” Robinson explains. Daily gym sessions, sunlight, and short breaks outdoors form the core of his mental and physical routine.

Looking Ahead: Scaling the Mission

Robinson envisions Relentless Repetition expanding to college and professional sports programs nationwide, from high-performing NCAA teams to Major League Baseball and the NFL. He also aims to reach high schools, emphasizing the importance of choices and peer groups to young audiences.

His speaking style blends education, empowerment, and entertainment—because, as he notes, “people remember stories that make them laugh just as much as stories that make them think.”

New Collaborations and Next Steps

Robinson is already collaborating with contractors and leadership organizations, weaving his personal story into sales and leadership training events nationwide. He’s also building partnerships with the University of Arkansas, his alma mater, and expanding his presence at Speakerpreneur events.

For him, the mission is clear: share his story widely, inspire change, and prove that success is achievable through the discipline of relentless repetition.
