Dr. Jimmy J. Davies and the Global Platform Every.Black Are Bridging the Digital Wealth Divide
Long before “tech entrepreneur” became a buzzword, Dr. Jimmy J. Davies was already on a mission—one powered by passion, vision, and a borrowed Macintosh computer.
Back in 1987, Dr. Davies was introduced to the Apple Macintosh. He didn’t own one. He didn’t know how to use one. But what he did have was determination. That moment became a turning point in his life—and over the next four decades, it evolved into a movement.
Today, Dr. Davies is the founder of Every.Black, a global platform dedicated to empowering Black entrepreneurs through technology training, AI education, and international networking opportunities. What started as a personal journey to master technology has blossomed into a legacy of mentorship and mission-driven innovation.
From Learning to Leading
In 1988, just months after encountering that first Macintosh, Dr. Davies launched a computer training service. Without even owning a computer, he learned by studying software manuals and practicing on clients’ devices. His commitment was unmatched. He even took a job selling Macs just to get closer to the technology—and later sold his car to fund multi-state advertising for his growing business.
His efforts paid off. He trained more than 10,000 people across 40 cities and 12 states, proving that access and education could open doors—even for those starting from scratch.
But something was missing.
“I wasn’t seeing people who looked like me in my sessions,” Dr. Davies recalls. “That realization drove me to create something specifically for our community. We deserve a seat at the tech table—and Every.Black is how we claim it.”
Technology as a Tool for Economic Empowerment
Founded in 2018, Every.Black serves as a tech empowerment ecosystem for Black entrepreneurs—particularly those 50 and older—who want to harness technology to build and scale their businesses.
From ChatGPT and AI workshops to personalized business automation training, the platform simplifies complex topics and offers real-world guidance. It’s not just about tech—it’s about transformation.
“We meet people where they are,” says Dr. Davies. “Whether they’re just starting their business or looking to modernize, we show them how to use today’s tools to elevate their income and expand their impact.”
The platform also fosters international connections, helping members build relationships across the U.S., Africa, and the Caribbean. It’s about more than mentorship—it’s about mobility and multiplying opportunity across borders.
The Power of Persistence and Purpose
Dr. Davies’ journey hasn’t been easy. He built his business without access to capital or advanced degrees. What he had was grit, a love of learning, and a belief in legacy. He was honored with an Honorary Doctorate from the National Beauty Culturist League, and commissioned to create the Dr. Joe L. Dudley, Sr. Legacy Project, celebrating one of Black America’s most iconic entrepreneurs.
Even in the early days of the internet, Dr. Davies was building digital spaces for Black voices. His African American Information Network on Apple’s eWorld platform was a forerunner to what would become Every.Black.
And through it all, he’s lived by one powerful quote:
“When there is change, there is opportunity. Since change is constant, there is always opportunity.”
A Vision for the Future
Dr. Davies believes the next phase of Black entrepreneurship is deeply rooted in digital fluency, cross-border collaboration, and generational knowledge transfer.
“My dream is that Every.Black becomes as common in our community as a church or a corner store—because if we can learn, we can lead,” he says.
And that dream is already in motion. Every.Black isn’t just a platform—it’s a movement to prepare today’s Black entrepreneurs for tomorrow’s economy.
