Communities grow stronger when people come together for a shared cause. Social initiatives create support systems, encourage unity, and inspire change. Working towards this goal is Dr. Nisha Sundaragopal, widely known as Dr. Sun, who is a dentist at Smile Rangers, founder of Q Closet, and producer of the film Candy. She is shaping service and community engagement through her nonprofit, V Care Trust, by organizing programs that support education, health awareness, and cultural connection.
V Care Trust is a 501(c) nonprofit organization that works for the welfare of underprivileged individuals, people with disabilities, women, children, and veterans. The organization also promotes patriotism and community participation across the United States of America. Although officially registered in December 2023, Mrs Sarika Mishra is the Secretary and Vice President, Mr. Dheeraj Kohli is the Treasurer. The trio forms a strong team in excuting these volunteer community services through V Care Trust. A V Care Board members team has been established and our first V Care Gala was conducted on December 2025. We collected the proceeds from short film Candy and donated to UNICEF with triple match program. Dr. Sun and her team have been providing volunteer services and community programs since 2019.
The Board members include- Karuna Poosarla, Sunaina Panchal, Priyanka Srivastava, Dr. Nandhini Sarkar, Debjani Tarafder, Harshith Sadhu, Ratnakar Modekrutti, Raja Rajanalla, Revathy Sundaramurthy, Vijeta Kaushik, Ritu Sharma, Shravani Gopisetty.
The organization states its vision as, “To create a world filled with peace and love by helping the underprivileged and disabled, children, women, older people, and veterans.” The organization’s mission focuses on building unity and improving lives through meaningful initiatives.
Below are the programs that V Care Trust has carried out for maximum community impact.
Educational Initiatives: Vidyaarti Student #1 Talent Recognition Program
The educational efforts of V Care Trust focus on student growth, talent recognition, and confidence-building. Its initiative, Vidyaarti, has been running for over five years. The program honors students for academic and creative excellence through nominations by parents and teachers.
Dr. Sun executed this program to build a strong support system for young learners. It recognizes achievements at the national, state, and district levels. The program also promotes civic values and encourages students to express gratitude toward their country.
Features of the Vidyaarti program include:
- Recognition of academic and creative achievements across multiple disciplines.
- Awards, medals, and certificates presented by elected officials from Fort Bend County.
- Patriotic video submissions from award recipients.
- Confidence-building opportunities for students and family engagement in education.
- Community networking that connects families, educators, and young achievers.
The program hosted a virtual event in 2021 with over 100 participants. Later editions include American patriotic awards, social media contests, and recognition ceremonies attended by leaders such as KP George and Robin Elackatt.
Vidyaarti also promotes social awareness. In 2025, it honored short films addressing issues such as human trafficking, border safety, and public protection. Through these educational efforts, V Care Trust encourages young minds to think responsibly and contribute to society.
Health and Community Service: Cancer Awareness and Social Support Programs
Health awareness is another significant contribution of V Care Trust. The organization works to spread knowledge about disease prevention, support survivors, and assist vulnerable groups. The cancer awareness initiative brought communities together through public events and outreach programs.
The first cancer awareness walk was held at the South Lawn of the Texas State Capitol in August 2022 with Senator Creighton. Since then, efforts have been made across cities and countries.
Health and service activities include:
- Cancer awareness walks held in Times Square, Houston, Katy, and France.
- Support for cancer survivors, victims, and their families through public awareness campaigns.
- Fundraising and service support for veterans.
- Collaboration with organizations such as the Houston Food Bank and Help a Hero.
- Financial contributions to Home of Hope, a center that protects sexually abused girls in Texas.
Dr. Sun also promoted support for Home of Hope through her “Health and Happiness” radio segment, helping raise awareness and contributions through community outreach.
Cultural Programs: Kalaisangamam and Community Heritage Events
Cultural exchange and artistic expression are also important components of V Care Trust. Through its cultural initiative, Kalaisangamam, the organization promotes heritage arts and encourages participation across age groups.

In 2024, V Care Trust partnered with the Telugu Cultural Association to host English, Telugu, and Tamil debate contests. Students from elementary to high school levels participated and received American Glory medals.
