A memorable event often announces itself before a guest has had time to settle in. It might be a wall of drinks waiting at the entrance, champagne cascading through a tower, or a cocktail arriving with an unexpected texture, garnish or burst of dry ice.
For Annabelle Zierhut, those moments are carefully considered.
As the visionary and creative force behind Topshelf Celebrations, Zierhut has spent the past five years developing a luxury mobile bar and experiential event company that approaches cocktails as part hospitality, part culinary craft and part event design.
Serving clients throughout Southwest Florida, the company has worked on more than 300 events, including private celebrations, corporate holiday gatherings, leadership retreats, broker opens and fundraisers. Its team can now service as many as three events in a single evening.
Yet scale tells only part of the story. The evolution of Topshelf Celebrations has increasingly centered on creating experiences guests can see, taste and interact with.
Going Beyond the Traditional Bar
Topshelf Celebrations provides elevated bartending services, but Zierhut does not see the bar as simply a place to order a drink.
The company creates interactive drink walls, champagne towers, dry ice features, entrance drink displays and other statement pieces designed to become part of an event’s visual identity. Some greet guests as they arrive. Others encourage interaction throughout the evening.
The intention is to create an immediate sense of discovery.
Rather than placing a standard bar into a space, Topshelf considers how the experience can complement the setting and give guests something worth approaching, photographing and talking about.
“Our goal is to create elevated, tasteful cocktails using real ingredients tied to unique experiences that will carry memories and spark conversations long after the event is over,” Zierhut says.
The Idea Behind Culinary Cocktail Couture
That same thinking extends to what goes into the glass.
Topshelf Celebrations describes its cocktail philosophy as “Culinary Cocktail Couture,” a term that reflects the team’s culinary approach to drink creation. Cocktails can incorporate distinctive garnishes, textures, unexpected ingredients and presentation techniques intended to engage more than taste alone.
The comparison to couture is deliberate. Each cocktail is considered in relation to the celebration around it, with attention given to visual presentation and the small details that can turn a familiar drink into something guests pause to experience.
It is a more layered approach to event hospitality, bringing together culinary creativity, entertainment and design.
Different Disciplines Behind the Experience
Producing those moments requires people with different specialties.
Zierhut leads the creative vision. Patrick Flynn and Nicholas Zierhut serve as fabricators, helping translate concepts into physical installations and statement pieces. Samantha Monteverde serves as cocktail curator, while Alexander Zimmer oversees operations.
Together, the team handles both the visible experience and the practical work required to deliver it across different venues.
That range matters because Topshelf Celebrations does not operate from a single event space. A private residence presents different creative and logistical considerations from a corporate function or fundraiser. Each environment requires adaptation while still maintaining the company’s aesthetic and service standards.
Five Years of Refining the Experience
More than 300 events have given Zierhut and her team an opportunity to learn what guests respond to.
Often, it is an unexpected detail.
A champagne tower can become a gathering point. An entrance display can establish the mood before the event formally begins. A cocktail with an unusual garnish or texture can start a conversation between people who have only just met.
Those details help explain where Topshelf Celebrations is heading after its first five years. The company is continuing to move beyond the familiar definition of mobile bar service toward something broader: personalized cocktail experiences where hospitality, culinary creativity, design and entertainment occupy the same space.
For Zierhut, the goal remains straightforward. Give people something they will remember after the glasses have been cleared and the celebration has ended.
