A Vision Rooted in Purpose
For Janie Seltzer and Kathy Souza, entrepreneurship was never just about building another business. It was about answering a deeper need they saw among women leaders who were succeeding professionally yet feeling depleted internally. Their venture, the Women’s Center for SoulCARE, was born from a shared belief that tending to the soul strengthens every other area of life, including business.
Seltzer brings decades of experience as a spiritual director and teacher, including her role with the Zig Ziglar International community. Souza contributes a strong operational background from a successful career in real estate. Their partnership began unexpectedly when Souza stayed at Seltzer’s home as an Airbnb guest. What followed was a friendship that evolved into a clear division of strengths. Seltzer leads with vision and wisdom. Souza ensures the strategy, systems and visibility are in place.
Building a Business Through Complementary Strengths
Like many early stage ventures, the biggest challenges have not been conceptual but practical. Visibility, clarity of roles and resisting burnout are daily considerations. Rather than trying to do everything themselves, Seltzer and Souza intentionally focus on what only each of them can do.
Seltzer concentrates on teaching, counseling, speaking and retreat leadership. Souza manages operations, social media, follow up and administration. That alignment has allowed them to grow steadily while staying grounded in their mission. Their model reflects a broader leadership lesson. Sustainable businesses are built when founders honor both calling and competence.
A Pivotal Shift Into Growth
A defining moment came less than a year ago when Seltzer felt compelled to attend a women focused networking event alongside Souza. Surrounded by driven entrepreneurs, she recognized a widespread pattern of exhaustion and disconnection. That realization became a turning point.
Since then, the founders have expanded their reach nationwide, intentionally showing up in rooms where women leaders are building companies but often neglecting themselves. The result has been rapid momentum rooted in trust and authentic relationships.

Advice for Aspiring Entrepreneurs
Their guidance for entrepreneurs is refreshingly countercultural. Get quiet. Discern what you truly need instead of chasing every opportunity. The modern business landscape is filled with noise and well meaning distractions. Progress requires focus, patience and a willingness to learn from mistakes without repeating them.
They also caution against the myth that entrepreneurship automatically delivers freedom. Without boundaries, it can become a twenty four seven commitment. Discernment is not optional. It is essential.
What Comes Next
Looking ahead, the Women’s Center for SoulCARE is expanding thoughtfully. Plans include elegant faith-based retreats, a seven month SoulCARE Mastermind limited to 12 founding members, and the growing Sisters of the Heart Collective which meets bi-weekly. These offerings are designed to meet women where they are and guide them toward wholeness in both life and leadership.
