How PetroVybe Is Redefining Energy Investing with Faith-Driven Stewardship

Published:

When Peter Snell launched PetroVybe, he wasn’t just building another oil and gas company—he was creating what he called a “kingdom outpost.” It’s a model that challenges conventional wisdom, reprioritizes biblical stewardship over success, and offers investors something increasingly rare: transparency, purpose, and long-term perspective.

From Legacy to Leadership

Snell’s entrepreneurial DNA stretches back generations.

“My grandpa started as a day laborer during the Great Depression,” Snell recalls. “He worked his way up through sheer grit and ended up running multiple filling stations before launching his own construction and real estate companies.

My dad put himself through college, a first in his family. After a detour to the Pentagon, courtesy of the draft into the army, he built a successful insurance business. Neither of them had an easy path, but they were consistent, disciplined providers who understood the power of small, faithful steps over years of time.”

Those legacies helped shape PetroVybe’s ethos.

“Yes, we produce natural gas and oil to make a profit. But it’s not just about profit—it can’t be,” Snell says. “Yes, profit is a critical outcome. But like my dad and my grandpa before him understood, you have to commit to the long term. And in the grind of it all, leaning in, staying committed… that’s what separated these men from most.”

The Theology of Entrepreneurship

Getting to the starting line of PetroVybe wasn’t easy either.

For years, Snell wrestled with a deep internal tension—one not often discussed in boardrooms: how to reconcile ambition with surrender.

“I didn’t have a framework for it,” he admits. “My heart was surrendered to Jesus. But I had a ton of inputs over the years about business success… inputs from the world that flatly conflicted with my faith in Jesus. How was I going to reconcile these things?”

His breakthrough came through a book—God Owns My Business by Stanley Tam.

“Stanley’s story was groundbreaking for me because he had already been where I was. And God had already worked out the practical side of the stewardship framework I had been looking for. It drove me deeper into Scripture, where I learned that God already has a model for multiplication. But it wasn’t through ownership. It was through stewardship.”

Today, PetroVybe’s leadership model is built around two core scriptural anchors:

  • Matthew 25 – The Parable of the Talents

  • 1 Timothy 3 and Titus 1 – Biblical character criteria for leadership

Growth the Hard Way

PetroVybe wasn’t the rocketship of success Peter and his team envisioned.

“We expected Kingdom-first stewardship to unlock favor. It did—but not how we imagined,” Snell shares. “Like my dad and my grandpa before him, it is about endurance, not ease. Tight capital. Slow pivots. Relentless tests. But also, God’s faithfulness at every turn.”

What emerged was a business that stands apart.

PetroVybe’s flagship project, PetroVybe ONE, is strategically positioned at the intersection of AI-driven energy demand and natural gas scalability.

Advice for Builders

Snell’s advice to entrepreneurs?

“Don’t confuse slow with wrong. God often develops leaders in obscurity. And never forget: obedience outweighs outcome.”

He also recommends foundational readings for Kingdom-minded builders:

  • Nehemiah – Mission, resistance, and dependence on God

  • Proverbs 3 & 16 – Trust, wisdom, and God-directed outcomes

  • Theology of Work Bible Commentary

  • Redeeming Your Time by Jordan Raynor

Looking Ahead

Snell’s mission goes far beyond profit margins.

“Ultimately, we’re not just building businesses—we’re building kingdom outposts for eternal impact. If our work opens doors for Jesus to be known in the marketplace, that alone makes it worth it.”
