Alex on the Rocks, the Latin producer in Asia who introduced the trap in Spanish on MTV Africa
Today we’d like to introduce you to Alex on the Rocks.
It’s an honor to speak with you today. Why don’t you give us some details about you and your story. How did you get to where you are today?
I started my music career studying at the National Conservatory of Venezuela “Juan Manuel Olivares”, there I got the diploma of Master in Piano performance. After that, I was signed by Peermusic Global, where I had the opportunity to Write and Produce songs for many venezuelan artists, as Guaco, Sibilino, Benavides, etc. After many years working for artists, I have decided to release my own music as artist and producer, this gave me the opportunity to make an important progress and make achievements as Pepsi awards, MTV base africa and also make the soundtrack for the venezuelan legends of soccer’s team “Leyendas vinotinto”. Now I’m releasing my new album “el orden”, where the first single “Serial” ft. T Mogul, have reached MTV base Africa and more than 200k streams between Youtube and Spotify.
I’m sure your success has not come easily. What challenges have you had to overcome along the way?
A lot of things. First of all, I have had to deal with the crisis in my hometown country, Venezuela, I have had to migrate and start from zero all my projects, making new connections, dealing with the cultural differences, trying to find an economic stability to support also my family, my father passed away in those times, a lot of things. But I keep strong and continue fighting for my dreams.
Let’s talk about the work you do. What do you specialize in and why should someone work with you over the competition?
I am one of the few graduated musician and producers in the Latin urban music industry, so my product is always different because it has a mix between academic resources, different genres and styles and the modern and popular sound of the urban Latin music.
What’s your best piece of advice for readers who desire to find success in their life?
The success is not a career about time, is a career about resistance. The key is to keep on fighting and working hard no matter the early results, the bad comments from people and personal frustrations. You need to learn from your mistake, improve and continue.
Speaking of success, what does the word mean to you?
For me, the success is to reach all the goals that you have set for yourself. If your goal is to have one million in your account and you made it, then you can say you are successful, also if your goal is to be a happy wife or husband and you found the person to do that and you are happy with it, then you can say you are successful too.
What’s next for you?
I will continue working hard in my music project, until I feel my music have touched all the hearts, souls and mind of every human in this planet. Or at least, a big part of that.
Finally, how can people connect with you if they want to learn more?
